Most of these photos have been taken since I bought my first DSLR in 2009 and caught the photography bug.  Prior to that I was just using basic point and shoot cameras.
My current kit comprises:
   - Canon EOS R5 camera body
   - Canon RF 15-30mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM
   - Canon RF 24-240mm f/4.0-6.3 IS USM lens
   - Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 STM lens
   - Canon RF 600mm f/11 IS STM lens
   - Canon 430EX III-RT Speedlite flash
   - Black Rapid RS-7 camera strap
   - Manfrotto 055CXPRO3 carbon fibre tripod with 460MG head
   - Canon PIXMA ip8750 A3 printer
   - Lowepro Fastpack BP AW II, main camera bag
   - Wandrd Roam Sling 9L, event and walking bag
I bought this Canon R system kit in April 2021.  For the previous 12 years I was using a Canon EOS 450d, along with the kit EF-S 17-55 f/3.5-5.6 IS lens plus a Tokina 11-16 f/2.8 IF ATX Pro lens, Canon EF 50 f/1.8 and Canon EF-S 55-250 f/4.0-5.6 IS.  My favourite camera before the Canon was a Konica Minolta DiMAGE Z2 point and shoot.  It may only have been a 4mp camera but I managed to take a lot of good photos with it including my all time favourite photo - Ellie on the South Bank in London.  For a while between 2016 and 2018 I had access to an EOS 700d which was a lot better than the 450d, but unfortunately I had to give that back.  During our Scottish holiday in the summer of 2019 I borrowed my friend Syd's full frame Nikon D800.  It weighed a ton but the photo quality was in a different league.  I knew then that I would upgrade to a much better camera as soon as I could afford it.
I use Adobe Lightroom Classic to store and edit my photos, and typically shoot in raw to maximise the quality.  I use Lightroom instead of Photoshop for many reasons: a) it makes it very easy to manage all my photos in one location; b) it's easier to work with raw files as there is no separate process before you can start editing them; c) the editing is non-destructive which means the original files are left untouched; and d) the editing tools are all I ever need for 99% of the time and are easier to use than Photoshop.  I use DxO PureRAW 3 on the photos I am going to print or post to clean up the noise when shooting with very high ISOs.  I sometimes use X-Rite ColorChecker Passport Photo for colour and white balance calibration.
